Students registering for classes must sign our PDF Terms and Conditions version of this document along with a regitration application with their payment to be admitted into classes. The TERMS AND CONDITIONS is between ___________________________________________ (“Student”) and TEFL Institute. These TERMS AND CONDITIONS are entered into in connection with the training course conducted by TEFL
Institute under which TEFL Institute provides a TEFL Certification course.
This TERMS AND CONDITIONS shall cover the full scope of our services to you. We assume no responsibility outside of the
administration and management of the TEFL training course.
Student enters into these TERMS AND CONDITIONS in consideration for being able to participate in a TEFL Institute course
and for other good and valuable consideration, the sufficiency of which the parties acknowledge.
Payment, partial or otherwise, will constitute full acceptance of this TERMS AND CONDITIONS agreement, TEFL Institute
reserves the right to, amend, change, or delete sections of this agreement as needed and your acceptance of those changes
is covered within the scope of this agreement. All TERMS AND CONDITIONS agreements will be posted on the company
official website or they are available from the TEFL Institute office by request.
Note: Student, and if Student has not yet reached the age of 18 years, his or her parents or guardian, should not sign the
TERMS AND CONDITIONS until Student and if applicable, his or her parents or guardian have read it carefully and
understand its contents. This document is a legally binding contract, which, in certain situations, will reduce or eliminate the
legal rights and legal recourse of Student and his or her parents or guardian.
If Student is younger than 18 years of age, the TERMS AND CONDITIONS must be signed by the parents or legal guardian of
Student, and, in such case, all references below to Student includes his or her parents or guardian.
Definitions
- Activity Fee shall refer to monies paid to TEFL Institute for services other than course tuition fees such a summer program activity fee. All activity fees are nonrefundable.
- Course End Date – the last day of your Course as posted by TEFL Institute
- Course Start Date – the date posted by TEFL Institute as your Course start date Extension Fee shall refer to the fee paid by a student for assignments turned in after the Course End Date for grading by TEFL Instructor
- Onsite Service Fee shall refer to any fees the student pays to TEFL Institute to terminate or cancel an Onsite Class
- Onsite TEFL Courses – an inperson TEFL training course of 100 hours or more
- JOB PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE
TEFL Institute makes no warranties either express and/or implied or otherwise to providing job placement services on behalf of course graduates. We assist students and course graduates in finding English teaching jobs abroad. We are not a placement agency and nor does TEFL Institute hire anyone to teach English abroad on its behalf. - Late Fee shall refer to the registration paid by any student registering late for a TEFL training course
- Termination Fee shall refer to any fees paid by the student to terminate or cancel a course
- TEFL shall at all times mean Teaching English as a Foreign Language
- TEFL Advisor shall refer to the individual(s), organization(s), or group(s) selling TEFL training courses on behalf of TEFL Institute
- TEFL Basic – 50 hours of online selfpaced TEFL training. The student has six months to complete the course
- TEFL Certificate shall refer to the document indicating evidence of course completion by student
- TEFL Instructor shall refer to the individual(s) or group providing TEFL training
- TEFL Professional – 120 hours of TEFL training comprised of 100 hours of inperson or online coursework and 20 hours of student teaching, tutoring, observation or a combination thereof in the form of a TEFL Practicum
- TEFL Seminar – a weekend of TEFL training
- Transfer Fee shall refer to the fee paid by a student to transfer from one course or course section to another

Books
Course books are available from TEFL Institute for a fee. It is the responsibility of the student to purchase the necessary
textbooks and materials to complete their TEFL training and to earn their TEFL Certificate
.
A. Payment of Books: Books may be ordered and purchased online or by phone through TEFL Institute, websites, or
agents.
B. Refunds: All book sales are final and are not refundable. In the event a student decides to withdraw, cancel, or
postpone a course the book sale is final.
Online Courses
TEFL Institute online courses are TEFL Professional and TEFL Basic.
Definitions:
(1) TEFL Basic is an online course comprised of 50 hours of TEFL training. It is a self paced course. Students selecting
this option will have six (6) months to complete the course beginning from their Course Start Date.
(2) TEFL Professional is 120 hours of TEFL training comprised of 100 hours of online coursework and 20 hours of TEFL
Practicum.
a. TEFL Practicum is 20 hours of student teaching, tutoring, observation or a combination thereof. The TEFL
Practicum must be completed by every student enrolled in a TEFL Professional course in order to receive
their TEFL Certificate.
A. Payment Schedule: All course fees are due in full at least thirty (30) days before the Course Start Date.
B. Late Fee: Students registering within 29 days of the Course Start Date or after the course has begun are subject to a
nonrefundable Late Fee.
C. Refund Schedule Refund schedule applies to the original course date not any subsequent start dates after course is postponed or transferred. The refund schedule for Online Courses shall be:
a. 90% when the course is cancelled at least thirty (30) days befo
re the Course Start Date.
b. 10% when the course is cancelled between twentynine
(29) days and the Course
Start Date.
c. 0% on the Course Start Date or any date thereafter.
d. All refunds are issued within 90 days from your Course Start Date.
D. Cancellation Policy: 100% refund whenever a Course is cancelled by TEFL Institute. TEFL Institute reserves the
right, in its sole discretion, to reject an individual at any time prior to the Course Start Date, or to cancel the Course in
which Student is scheduled to participate. In the unlikely event of such a cancellation, or if the Student has been
rejected, the total amount paid to TEFL Institute will be refunded. Other than such refund, TEFL Institute will not be
responsible to Student for any other refund, costs, interest, liability or damages of any kind.
E. Transfer Policy: A nonrefundable transfer fee must be paid to move to a new course date however, for purposes
determining refunds the original Course Start Date shall always apply.
F. POSTPONING A COURSE: Any request to postpone a course must be made by written notice to TEFL Institute. If
you postpone the start date of your course with at least thirty (30) days written notice there is no penalty. If you
postpone your course with 29 days or less before your Course Start Date you will be required to pay a nonrefundable
Late Fee.
a. Postponing after the Course Start Date: If you postpone your course for any reason, seen or unforeseen,
after the Course Start Date you will forfeit any and all fees paid to TEFL Institute.
i. To continue in your course section you must pay a Course Extension Fee.
ii. To transfer to another course section you must pay a Transfer Fee.

Summer Programs
These are specialized programs developed by TEFL Institute for its course students conducted during the summer months.
They are not included as a part of the Course Tuition payments but as a separate a free offering to all TEFL Institute students
and alumni. Programs are conducted in conjunction with highly reputable partnering organizations.
A. Payment Schedule: All Activity Fees are due at the time of enrollment
B. Refund Schedule: there is no refund for those electing to participate in a summer program.
C. Cancellation Policy: Summer Programs may be cancelled by TEFL Institute. In the event of a cancellation, no refunds
will be offered to Summer Program Students because there is no tuition or fees associated with this program. TEFL
Institute reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to reject an individual at any time prior to the Summer Program start
date, or to cancel the Summer Program in which Student is scheduled to participate. In the unlikely event of such a
cancellation, or if the Student has been rejected, the total amount paid to TEFL Institute will be refunded less the
Course Tuition.
D. Transfer Policy: There is a nonrefundable Transfer Fee for those for each transfer to another Summer Program. This
fee is in addition to any other course or activity fees.
E. POSTPONING YOUR SUMMER PROGRAM: Any request to postpone a Summer Program must be made by written
notice to TEFL Institute. If you postpone the start date of your Summer Program with at least thirty (30) days written
notice there is no penalty. If you postpone your Summer Program with 29 days or less before your Summer Program
Start Date you will be required to pay a nonrefundable Late Fee.
a. Postponing after the Summer Program Start Date: If you postpone your Summer Program for any reason,
seen or unforeseen, after the Summer Program Start Date you will forfeit any and all fees paid to TEFL
Institute.
i. To continue in your Summer Program you pay a Course Extension Fee.
ii. To transfer to another Summer Program you shall pay a Transfer Fee plus any additional fees that
are associated with that particular Summer Program.
F. THERE IS NO REFUND OF SUMMER ACTIVITY FEES, TEFL INSTITUTE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE TO
STUDENT FOR ANY OTHER REFUND, COSTS, INTEREST, LIABILITY OR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND
WHATSOEVER INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO TRAVEL, ACCOMODATION, VISA, ETC. STUDENT
UNDERSTANDS THAT SAID SUMMER PROGRAMS ARE NOT CONDUCTED BY TEFL INSTITUTE BUT
RATHER BY INDEPENDENT ORGANIZATIONS. SAID INDEPENDENT ORGANIZATIONS ARE IN NO WAY
ACTUAL AND/OR IMPLIED AGENTS OF TEFL INSTITUTE.
Weekend Courses
TEFL Seminar
A. Payment Schedule: All course fees are due in full at least thirty (30) days before the Course Start Date.
B. Late Student Enrollment: Students enrolling between 29 days and the Course start date or after the Course Start
Date shall pay an additional Late Fee to be admitted into their Course. This Late fee is in addition to their TEFL
Seminar tuition. The Late Fee is nonrefundable.
C. Payment Plans: Course fees must be paid in full at the time of enrollment.
D. Refund Schedule: Refunds are provided on the following schedule
a. 90% of the amount paid when student withdraws at least thirty (30) days before the Course Start Date.
b. 10% of the amount paid when the student withdraws between 29 days before the Course Start Date and the
Course Start date.
c. 0% of the amount paid when the student withdraws on the course date or any date thereafter.

d. All refunds are paid in 90 days after your Course End Date.
e. Cancellation Policy: whenever a Course is cancelled by TEFL Institute students will be given the option to
transfer to the next available course of equal or lesser value or to receive a full refund of their course tuition.
Students may transfer to a higher value course but they must pay the difference in price between the two
courses.
The refund will be issued within 90 days from your course end date. TEFL Institute reserves the
right, in its sole discretion, to reject an individual at any time prior to the Course start date, or to cancel the
Course in which Student is scheduled to participate. In the unlikely event of such a cancellation, or if the
Student has been rejected, the total amount paid to TEFL Institute will be refunded. Other than such refund,
TEFL Institute will not be responsible to Student for any other refund, costs, interest, liability or damages of
any kind.
f. Transfer Policy: There is a nonrefundable Transfer Fee whenever a student transfers to another course.

Onsite TEFL Courses
A, Definition: Any inperson
TEFL training course taught in the United States of America or abroad.
A. Payment Schedule
a. The course fee shall be paid in at least two payments depending on the course location:
i. One Payment will be paid directly to TEFL Institute. This agreement shall only cover any and all fees paid directly to TEFL Institute and not to any third party, partner, or other entity that is not
TEFL Institute.
ii. The other payment (s) shall be paid directly to the third party (if applicable, some locations require
only one payment that is made directly to TEFL Institute for the entire course tuition), TEFL School,
or other entity. The student will seek any refunds directly from that party and shall follow that
organization’s refund schedule. The student acknowledges and agrees to hold harmless TEFL
Institute for any damages, and/or litigation costs including but not limited to filing fees, witness fees,
and reasonable attorney fees, etc resulting from a failure to obtain and/or attempt to obtain said
refund directly from that organization.
b. Tuition: The full course tuition is due at ninety (90) days before your Course Start Date.
c. Housing: Housing fees are paid directly to the housing provider at your course location. Housing fees are
due on the schedule dictated by the housing provider. Your TEFL Advisor will provide you with more
information on these areas.
i. TEFL Institute does not accept housing payments. Students will pay their housing fees directly to
the vendor responsible for their housing. Any housing refunds must come directly from the housing
provider and not TEFL Institute.
ii. TEFL Institute is not responsible for the kind, quality, or condition of the housing. We make no
warranties either express or implied as to the availability and/or condition of the housing.
B. Refund Schedule Refund
schedule applies to the original course date not any subsequent start dates after course is
postponed or transferred.

a. A refunds shall following the schedule below:
i. 100% of the amount paid when student withdraws or cancels at least 90 days before the Course
Start Date less the Onsite Course Service Fee.
ii. 50% of the amount paid when student withdraws or cancels at least 89 to 61 days before the
Course Start Date less the Onsite Course Service Fee.
iii. 25% of the amount paid when the student withdraws or cancels at between 60 to 30 days before
the Course Start Date and the Course Start Date less the Onsite Course Service Fee.
iv. 0% of the amount paid when the student withdraws at 29 days before the Course Start Date or any
date thereafter.
v. All refunds are paid within 90 days after your scheduled Course End Date.
b. Cancellation of Course by TEFL Institute – students will receive a full refund of course fees paid directly to
TEFL Institute within 90 days after the Cancellation notice has been issued. TEFL Institute reserves the
right, in its sole discretion, to reject an individual at any time prior to the Course start date, or to cancel the
Course in which Student is scheduled to participate. In the unlikely event of such a cancellation, or if the
Student has been rejected, the total amount paid to TEFL Institute will be refunded. Other than such refund,
TEFL Institute will not be responsible to Student for any other refund, costs, interest, liability or damages of
any kind.
C. Transfer Policy
a. There is a course transfer fee to move to another course.
D. When TEFL Institute Postpones a Course
a. Option to start students in an online course if the course start date is delayed
b. Refunds will not be made for housing or meals during this time and students should have enough reserve
income to meet their needs during this timeframe.
c. If a delay exceeds 30 days, the student may elect to receive a course refund or transfer into a course
location
E. Postponing Your Course: Any request for postponement must be in writing. If you postpone the starting date of your
course giving with at least ninety (90) days written notice there is no penalty. If you postpone your course with 89
days or less before your Course Start Date you will be required to pay a Transfer Fee to register for the your desired
course date.
a. Transfer Policy: There is a course transfer fee whenever a student transfers to another course.
F. Postponing after the Course Start Date: If you postpone your course for any reason, seen or unforeseen, after the
Course Start Date you will forfeit any and all fees paid to TEFL Institute.
G. To transfer to another course section you shall pay a Transfer Fee.
H. STUDENT HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGES THAT ANY THIRD PARTY, TEFL SCHOOL, HOUSING PROVIDER
AND/OR OTHER ENTITY INVOLVED WITH SAID ONSITE TEFL COURSE ARE IN NO WAY ACTUAL AND/OR
IMPLIED AGENTS OF TEFL INSTITUTE TEFL INSTITUTE IN NO WAY PROVIDES EITHER EXPRESS AND/OR
IMPLIED WARRANTIES AS TO THE SERVICES AND/OR ACCOMODATIONS PROVIDED BY SAID THIRD
PARTY, TEFL SCHOOL, HOUSING PROVIDER AND/OR OTHER ENTITY.
Job Placement Assistance
A. DEFINITION: TEFL INSTITUTE PROVIDES ASSISTANCE TO HELP YOU FIND AN ENGLISH TEACHING JOB
ABROAD ONLY AS AN ACCOMMODATION TO ITS STUDENTS. WE MAKE NO WARRANTIES EITHER
EXPRESS AND/OR IMPLIED OR OTHERWISE REGARDING YOUR JOB PLACEMENT EXPERIENCE
INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE QUALITY OR CONDITIONS OF YOUR EMPLOYMENT WITH AN ESL
SCHOOL OR ORGANIZATION, TRAVEL PLANS OR HOUSING ACCOMMODATIONS, ETC

B. THE STUDENT RECOGNIZES THAT DESPITE ANY CONVERSATIONS OR MATERIALS STATING OTHERWISE,
TEFL INSTITUTE IS NOT A JOB PLACEMENT ORGANIZATION AND ONLY ASSISTS STUDENTS IN FINDING
ENGLISH TEACHING JOBS ABROAD.
C. Every enrollee receives job placement assistance. Our staff is available to help you prepare your Onsite resume,
prepare for an interview, and review your hiring contract. TEFL Institute is not a job placement agency and/or
recruiter. Ultimately, it is the responsibility of the enrollee to obtain your English teaching job abroad.
D. TEFL INSTITUTE WORKS WITH RECRUITERS, SCHOOLS, AND/OR HIRING ORGANIZATIONS TO ASSIST
STUDENTS. STUDENT HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGES THAT SAID RECRUITERS, SCHOOLS, AND/OR HIRING
ORGANIZATIONS ARE IN NO WAY ACTUAL AND/OR IMPLIED AGENTS OF TEFL INSTITUTE. AND, ARE
PROVIDING NO WARRANTIES EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED AS TO THE SERVICES PROVIDED BY SAID
RECRUTIERS, SCHOOLS, AND/OR HIRING ORGANIZATIONS.
E. STUDENT HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THEY ARE NOT EMPLOYEES OF TEFL INSTITUTE.
PROCESS FOR CANCELLATION OF A COURSE
If Student cancels for any reason, Student must notify TEFL Institute in writing. The cancellation will be effective upon receipt
of the writing by TEFL Institute at its offices in Chicago, Illinois. TEFL Institute incurs substantial administrative and planning
costs for this Course. Therefore, regrettably, if Student cancels his or her participation in TEFL Institute course, funds paid by
Student to TEFL Institute can be refunded only as set forth per the refund schedule for their course as outlined in the
agreement above.
FEES PAID DIRECTLY TO THE ONSITE LOCATION
If you make a course fee payment or any other related payment directly to an Onsite host school location it is their
responsibility to issue any and all refunds. TEFL Institute Chicago can only issue refunds on fees paid directly to this office.
TEFL Institute cannot be held liable for any losses to trainees other than those covered by the Terms & Conditions Letter.
Students taking courses outside of their home country are strongly advised to take medical, personal effects and insurance.
TEFL Institute cannot be held responsible for loss or theft of personal belongings.
As pointed out below, Student is responsible for transportation to the course location. Student is solely responsible for any
airfare or travel fees, housing, and related charges, expenses or penalties, that might result from any cancellation of or change
in Student’s course, whether Student cancels the course or it is cancelled or altered by TEFL Institute.
It is very important that Student understands the refund and cancellation policy. If it is not clear, Student should ask for
clarification. TEFL Institute cannot make exceptions to this cancellation policy for any reason, including medical emergencies.
TEFL Institute strongly urges Student to purchase trip cancellation insurance.
Acknowledgement and Release
Student will participate in activities that may be outside of the United States. Often, the locations of TEFL Institute courses are
in countries that are referred to as developing countries and the conditions may be difficult. Student may be called upon to
exercise great care for his or her own person and belongings. Student has informed himself or herself of the conditions in the
countries and locations where Student will be during Student participation in TEFL Institute course and has also consulted with
appropriate medical personnel and has determined that his or her health is adequate to participate safely in Student’s course.
Student understands that TEFL Institute is a service organization and recognizes that participation in the course is voluntary.
Student recognizes that there are inherent risks that Student must assume when he or she participates in a course that trains students to teach English abroad. Student recognizes that TEFL Institute does not provide job placement services and can only assist students in finding an English teaching job abroad.
Student recognizes that TEFL Institute is only a TEFL training
organization that provides TEFL training courses and not job placement.
Student recognizes that TEFL Institute does not
assume any responsibility for injury, sickness, personal health, or death, or loss or damage to property while Student’s
participation in TEFL Institute course, including travel to, from and during the course, Student may encounter difficult
conditions and may be subjected to hazards and risks, foreseen and unforeseen. These hazards and risks may cause or
alleged to be caused by a variety of difficulties of travel or residing in locations away from the Student’s residence or by
individuals either affiliated with or not affiliated with TEFL Institute.

By signing below, Student agrees that he or she read and understands that Student’s participation in a TEFL Institute course
involves hazards and risks, foreseen and unforeseen, and that Student is prepared to accept those risks. Accordingly, Student
releases TEFL Institute (including all of its personnel, agents, affiliates, staff, and directors) from any and all liabilities for
claims of any type or description, including those with respect to any injury or losses, including but not limited to personal
injury, sickness, disease, or death or damage to person or property.
This release does not apply to liabilities arising from
gross negligence or wanton or reckless conduct by TEFL Institute or its representatives. Apart from that exception, this release
applies to any and all liability for claims, of any type or description, whether arising from breach of contract, breach of warranty
(either express or implied), ordinary negligence or otherwise, whether involving fees, expenses, or compensatory and/or
consequential damages of any compensation for claims as to which Student or his or her estate will indemnify and hold
harmless TEFL Institute for all sums reasonably incurred in response to such claims including but not limited to filing fees,
witness fees, litigation costs, and/or reasonable attorneys fees.
1. Not an Employee of TEFL Institute
Student acknowledges that he or she is not an employee of TEFL Institute and waives all claims and rights that Student
might otherwise have as an employee of TEFL Institute.
2. Use of Student Likeness
Student acknowledges and agrees that in the course of Student’s participation in the TEFL Institute course and after the
completion of the course, TEFL Institute may record Student’s likeness or comments. Student consents to the use of
Student’s likeness (whether photographed, filmed, videotaped, including, without limitation, portions of a film or videotape)
and comments or any portion of such in any manner developed now or in the future, including, without limitation,
marketing and promotional materials, advertising for television, radio, print or other media, and any other TEFL Institute
presentations.
Student agrees that, in connection with such use, TEFL Institute, and persons acting for or on behalf of
THE TEFL Institute, may identify Student and may identify Student’s name, age, city and state/territory/other district or
country of residence. Student releases, indemnifies and agrees to hold harmless TEFL Institute, and persons acting for or
on behalf of TEFL Institute, from any liability for acts authorized under this section of this TERMS AND CONDITIONS
form.
3. Air Travel, Housing, Meals and Transport
Student is responsible for air tickets, transfers, visa fees, taxes, and other expenses associated to Student’s course.
Student may utilize any travel service they wish. Student agrees to indemnify and hold TEFL Institute harmless for any
and all losses associated with air travel, hotels, lodging, meals, transport, and airport taxes for the use of reporting to their
course country as stated above.
4. Governing Laws and Arbitration
These TERMS AND CONDITIONS shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the substantive law of the
State of Illinois, USA, applicable to agreements made and to be performed wholly therein, without regard to its provisions
or rules concerning choice of laws or conflicts of laws. Any controversy or claim between the parties to this Agreement
shall be resolved in arbitration in the place of arbitration shall be Cook County, Illinois (or at any other place or under any
other form of arbitration mutually acceptable to the parties so involved).
The arbitrator shall apply the substantive law of
the State of Illinois, USA, as set forth above, and any award rendered shall be final and conclusive upon the parties and a
judgment thereon may be entered in any court, state or federal, having jurisdiction. Except as set forth below, the
expenses of the arbitration shall be bone equally be the parties of the arbitration, provided that each party shall pay for
and bear the cost of its own experts, and evidence.

5. TEFL Institute Prevails in an Arbitration or lawsuit
Notwithstanding anything above to the contrary, in the event of an arbitration hearing and/or lawsuit brought forth against
TEFL Institute by the student (claimant) and one in which TEFL Institute prevails the student (claimant) agrees to pay
TEFL Institute its litigation cost(s) of any and all fees for court costs, arbitration fees , reasonable attorneys fees,
including any and all expert fees utilized by TEFL Institute during the adjudication of this claim either through the courts,
arbitration, or by its attorney(s).
6. Null and Void
In the event that TEFL Institute ceases its operations due to natural or manmade disasters beyond its control or
bankruptcy the Student agrees this contract is null & void.
7. Miscellaneous Provisions
A. This Agreement may only be amended or modified by a written instrument signed by both parties hereto.
B. This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the parties hereto with respect to the subject
matter hereof and supersedes any prior oral or written understandings between the parties.
C. If any provision of this Agreement, or the application of such provision to any person, entity or circumstance,
shall be held invalid, the remainder of this Agreement, or the application of each provision to persons or
circumstances other than those to which it is held invalid, shall not be affected thereby.
D. All headings contained in the Agreement are intended for convenience of reference only, and shall not be
used to interpret any of the terms and provisions of this Agreement.
E. This Agreement may be executed in several counterparts, each of which shall be deemed to be an original
but all of which together shall constitute a single instrument.
F. The Agreement and the rights hereunder are solely for the benefit of the parties hereto and shall provide no
implied direct benefit to any third parties.
G. Nothing contained in this Agreement or any of the exhibits to it shall be construed against one of the parties
by virtue of that party having drafted all or any portion of this Agreement or any of the exhibits to it. Further,
nothing contained in this Agreement shall be construed against any party to this Agreement because it is a
printed form.
