Online TEFL

TEFL Institute is one of North America’s largest TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) training organizations. Every year we certify over 1,000 students to teach English abroad. Each graduate receives pre-enrollment advice, an internationally recognized TEFL Certificate, free job placement assistance, and pre-departure support.


What is teaching English abroad?


English teachers are in demand around the world as English is the international language of business, education and travel. English teaching positions are available with private, public, and governmental organizations in over 80 countries including the USA and Canada. Native or fluent English speakers are needed to provide the model and typically teach in a full English immersion.

How does it work?


TEFL Institute TM offers TEFL training courses online and in-person at over 25 international locations. Students completing our TEFL Professional TM will complete 120 hours of training comprised of 100 hours of coursework and 20 hours of TEFL Practicum in the form of student teaching, tutoring or classroom observation with local ESL schools.

  • In person TEFL Courses
Online TEFL TEFL Institute offers in-person training at over 20 international locations around the world. Typically, the class meets for four weeks and classes are full time and held Monday through Friday. There is ample time for sightseeing and other events in the evenings and weekends.   • Online TEFL Courses
TEFL Institute offers online training in a virtual learning environment taught by a university professor. Your class section will have 25 students facilitating peer to peer discussions and feedback via discussion boards. Students complete 100 hours of online coursework in addition to 20 hours of TEFL Practicum in the form of student teaching, tutoring, or classroom observation at local ESL classrooms in their community.

The Online TEFL course takes two months to finish. Online training is typically requires 12-15 hours of coursework a week and offers a flexible schedule to accommodate your current full time job.
