Kathmandu bustles with palace squares, towering temples, Buddhist Stupas, and beautiful, rolling hills.
Kathmandu is rich in ancient religions and colorful cultures - a turn around every corner surprises visitors with sites such as Hindu Gods/Goddesses, reincarnated Llamas, and warm, friendly people with vibrant smiles. Interesting sites in Kathmandu include: Taleju Temple, Kal Bhairav (the God of Destruction), Nautalle Durbar, Coronation area of Nasal Chowk, the Gaddi Baithak, the statue of King Pratap Malla, the Great Bell and Great Drums of Patan and Bhaktapur Durbar Square as well as the Jagannath Temple.
The School
The school in Nepal is located in the heart of Kathmandu - granting participants easy access to the major areas of Kathmandu. The school is located approximately 4 km from the international airport and 3 km from the famously large tourist Bazaar of Thamel. This 4-story building in Kathmandu is equipped with spacious classrooms, audio-visual tools, and a small library.
Housing
Housing options and pricing are dependent upon availability and season at the time of your course. Your onsite coordinator will be able to provide more details and recommendations.
The housing fee covers housing and meals in various local host families residing in Kathmandu. Your host family provides a separate room and 3 meals a day. Should you decide to stay in a hotel, this can be arranged as well but requires an additional increase in program fees. Program fees also cover airport receive/pick-up, on-site, field support.

Local Nepalese cuisine is very similar to Indian cuisine in that it generally consists of rice, curry, Dal, vegetables, milk, etc. However, a variety of exotic foods is available throughout the city of Kathmandu.
Transportation
The school can provide airport pick-up and a transfer service. Students will be transferred to their respective living accommodations. The school does not offer airport drop-off services - participants are responsible for arranging their own return transportation once the program has commenced. Teachers are required to provide their flight information prior to arrival in Kathmandu.
There are a few options for traveling around Kathmandu. Long distance buses can be taken from the bus station near the city center. There are also tourist buses that depart from other locations around the city. You can also arrange a car for hire to see the Kathmandu Valley.
