Our International TEFL Certification courses are perfect for people who know where they want to teach and are ready to jump-start their international teaching career. All international courses feature a minimum of 150 hours of coursework and practical teaching application. Our international on-site courses are faster and more hands-on than our online course and provide you with instruction specifically tailored to that country’s industry. You will have an on-site coordinator who will assist you during the course and still have free access to our student services department for life.
TEFL Institute’s on-site courses are ideal for those who are looking for a fast track to living and working overseas. Your life overseas begins as soon as you arrive for your course, and in just 4 weeks you are ready to start your international career! Our international course locations are well known to local English-teaching schools, and, since you can apply and interview for jobs while during your course, many of our international course alumni have jobs lined up before their courses are complete.
If you learn best through traditional, on-site instruction, you are not alone. Many people prefer on-site courses because they provide a community, ample discussion, role-play opportunities, and direct access to the instructor. Our on-site courses also integrate practical experience (student teaching/observation) into the coursework. Depending on the course, you may be sent to a nearby school for observation and assistance, or students may be brought to the course site for you to tutor privately.
While the amount of support varies from course to course, all international locations have an English-speaking on-site coordinator to advise and guide you through your journey overseas. For example, the on-site coordinator advises you on flights and travel within the country, and assists your housing search. On-site coordinators and professors often have extensive networks and can recommend schools once you are ready to start your job search. Should you wish to move on to another country, you will still receive free lifetime placement assistance and support from our student services department.
Classes are typically held 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday, over a four-week period. Each course meets the international standard of 130 hours of coursework and 20 hours of student teaching (practicum). Coursework features homework, tests, quizzes, lesson planning, and role-playing to simulate real classroom scenarios. The amount of work is comparable to 6 credit hours in a university course. Though each course is slightly different, check out the Chicago course syllabus for more information regarding coursework and objectives.
