Teaching Abroad in Italy Overview:

The reasons to journey to Italy are too numerous to list. Some venture for the history, others, the art. Some are fashion gurus and some are deeply religious individuals who want to catch a glimpse of the leader of the Roman Catholic faith in his Pope-mobile. Anyone who has set foot on Italian soil and broken bread in a restaurant or dined with a local family can agree that the food is worth the plane ticket alone. Sip coffee in a palazzo, ride a gondola in Venice, or just stuff yourself with pizza slices that would make even the most skeptical New Yorker nod in agreement, appreciation and respect. Italy is a feast for the senses. English teachers working abroad and determined enough to live in such historic surroundings should make an effort to step off the traditional tourist trail. Explore Sicily and Sardinia for some breathtaking beaches and local culture. Ciao Bella! (Hi beautiful!)

Festivals in Italy

Venice Carnival

As a setting for a carnival, Venice is unique. The city's location, built across several islands in a lagoon bordering the Adriatic Sea allows for amazing visuals in a serene and dream-like setting. The parade of floats literally float on water! There is a maze of narrow pedestrian streets and the interlaced canals are a source of discovery at every turn. Venice as a whole is an authentic backdrop for the theatrical celebrations that form the basis of the festival.
