Teaching Abroad in France Overview:

There is every reason in the world to get to France and only a handful of stereotypes that people use to avoid it. Only after you sip some Bordeaux, feast on the food, absorb the "lust for life" philosophy distinctive to the nation, will you understand why France is truly an exceptional place. If your interests lie in racing (The LeMans 24 hour event) fashion, (Coco Channel, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton) or landscape beauty (The Alps, The Riviera) France has got you covered in every department. English teachers working in France should stop and smell the roses, overload on art at the Louvre, and make a point of raising their glass of Champagne, (made only in the region of Champagne) and cry out, "Viva la France!" It is more than just a battle cry. It's a way of life that will have you feeling "Ooh la la!"

Bastille Day

France celebrates its national holiday with a combination of pomp and circumstance, street parties and a general letting down of hair. Declared a holiday for all French men and women in 1880, in recent years it has lost some of its popular appeal - partly because Bastille Day falls in the middle of the very month when most French people take their sacrosanct four-week vacation by the seaside - but the party-like ambience, particularly in the capital, can make for a joyful time in a city where people often seem afraid to laugh in case it gives them wrinkles.
