Festivals in China
Spring Festival
Spring Festival, also called Chinese New Year, falls on January 1st of the Chinese Lunar calendar. Everyone travels home to be with their families. The celebration lasts fifteen days. Activities include the New Year feast, lighting fire crackers, giving away lucky money to children, the lion dance, a dragon lantern performance and a temple fair.
Moon Festival
The Moon Festival, also called the Mid-Autumn Festival, is traditionally celebrated on August 15 of the Chinese lunar calendar. It is the second most important festival after the Spring Festival. Celebration activities include appreciating the moon, eating moon cakes and making Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival lanterns.
