Washington, DC  USA

Washington, DC is a city of vistas.  Unlike other large cities, it isn't dominated by skyscrapes and the result:  the world's first planned capital is also one of the its most beautiful.

Though politics may reign in the District, there is no shortage of culture - from marble monuments and museums standing in the shadow of the Capitol dome, to shopping, dining and nightlife scenes befitting a world-class metropolis.

About the Course

TEFL Washington Standard is a 120-hour certification course, consisting of:

  1. 2 days of weekend onsite training sessions
  2. 30 days of online training
  3. 20  hours of practicum (hands-on student teaching or observation)

The combination provides each student with the flexibility of part-time distance learning as well as the benefits of onsite classroom training.

Each TEFL Washington Standard course is led by a university-level instructor with at least a Master's degree and over five years of TEFL teaching experience.  Small class sizes allow for optimal learning, peer-to-peer review, and instructor feedback..

One Weekend (2 Days) of Onsite Training

The onsite portion of the course consists of 2 full days of onsite weekend training in our TEFL Washington D.C. location.  In-class days will be offered on weekends only, from 9AM - 5PM with appropriate breaks.  The in-class portion is held on Saturday and Sunday.

The topics covered range from speaking, listening, reading, writing, and grammar with a focus on small group activities, peer-to-peer review, and developing teaching and presentation skills in a classroom setting.

30 Days of Online Training

The online portion of the course consists of 60 hours of training conducted in an interactive Virtual Learning Environment hosted on TEFL Institute Online.

Students will be assigned weekly modules, consisting of reading assignments, writing assignments,  quizzes, and sometimes an online video. Writing assignments are posted to a forum that is accessible to your classmates and instructor. One requirement of each assignment is to post comments on at least two (2) of your classmates’ assignments, ensuring lively and engaging discussions throughout the course. Check out the course syllabus for more info about assignments and topics covered.
